Albert Lea summer programs planned

Albert Lea Parks & Recreation announced some summer programs it has planned. There will be a drive-in concert from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Albert Lea City Arena featuring The Ripdoozers.
Drive-in movies are planned, with “Toy Story 4” to be screened at 9:30 p.m. June 26, with entry allowed starting at 8:45 p.m. at Albert Lea City Arena. Admission will be $5 per vehicle. The rain date will be June 27. Pre-registration at www.cityofalbertlea.org or by calling 507-377-4370 is required, as space is limited. People can watch for more info to be announced for drive-in movies July 10 and July 24.
Through “On Wednesday We Recreate,” people can check out the city of Albert Lea Facebook and Instagram pages for different craft and activity ideas at home.
Passport to the Parks encourages people to take pictures next to city park signs or distinguishing features and share to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #albertleaparks. A random winner will be drawn every Friday to receive a gift card to a local business. The program is in collaboration with the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau and Main Street Program gift card challenge.
In collaboration with Albert Lea Area Schools, the Rec on the Go program will offer a free lunch to children 18 years old and younger beginning this week. Children will also receive an activity kit to take home with them. The lunches and activity packs will be handed out from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Thursday at Sibley/SW Play Park, and from 12:15 to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Hayek Play Park.
People are encouraged to watch for more information on Rock the Wander, a virtual run/walk/bike event coming soon.
