Daily COVID-19 cases: New cases reported in area counties; intensive care cases flat

A day after no new COVID-19 cases were reported in most south-central Minnesota counties, new cases were again reported Tuesday.
Freeborn County had five new cases, increasing its cumulative total to 297, according to the Freeborn County Public Health Department. There are 16 active cases remaining, with three more people out of isolation.
The new cases included one person under 10, one person in their 30s, one person in their 40s and one person in their 60s. No information was available yet about the fifth case.
Three people currently are hospitalized, and 22 Freeborn County residents have been hospitalized at some point during their illness.
The Minnesota Department of Health said Faribault County had one new case, increasing its total to 60 cases; Mower County had eight new cases, pushing its total to 960; Steele County had six new cases, increasing its total to 237; and Waseca County had three new cases, pushing its total to 71.
Statewide, 569 new cases were reported, increasing the state’s total positive cases to 39,133. Of that number, 34,377 are no longer in isolation.
Three new deaths were reported in Dakota, Ramsey and Rice counties, none of which were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
The state’s total deaths is now at 1,477, which 1,157 of those deaths among cases who resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities.
As of today, 267 people are hospitalized, including 121 in intensive care.
