The hits have been hard to come by for the Alden-Conger softball team and Friday was no different against Blooming Prairie in Alden.
The Knights dropped a 2-1 game against Martin County West Thursday where they lost in the bottom of the seventh inning. Against the Blossoms Alden-Conger couldn’t come up with clutching hitting and lost 5-1 in eight innings.
The Knights had four hits in the game and tied the game in the sixth inning when Krista Mathiason drove in Haley Knutson from second base, but Blooming Prairie came through in the eighth inning with four runs to hand Alden-Conger another difficult loss.
The Blossoms got back-to-back singles to start the eighth and the Knights made two consecutive errors to fall in extra innings.
Kenzie Martin took the loss on the mound, going eight innings, allowing five runs on seven hits. Martin walked just three and struck out four.
