United Methodist Church announces summer worship schedule and special events

Sunday, May 29, started the first Sunday of one worship service at 9 a.m. Following the service was a for time fellowship with coffee. Communion will be offered at the June 5, July 3, Aug. 7, and Sept. 4 worship services. On Sunday, June 12, please note the change of time for the worship service. UMC will be celebrating 133 years as a congregation with a “Rock and Roll” worship service at 10:45 a.m. Eddie Cochran was confirmed here at UMC in Albert Lea and would have celebrated his 73rd birthday this year. People confirmed at UMC will be honored. Special guest musicians will be Barb and Neil Lang. Come dressed in 50’s styled clothing and following the worship service enjoy a sloppy joe meal with a donation to cover expenses. The lunch will be served indoors and outdoors, with entertainment on the front lawn and a “Sock Hop.” There will be games. The public is invited to bring classic cars to display. The public is invited to all activities.
Please note that there will be no 4th of July Organ Blast this year on July 4. On July 17 and Aug. 14, the worship service will include a hymn-sing, with the congregation selecting the hymns to sing at the service. For more information, you are encouraged to call the church office at 373-8233.
