Fundraising for fireworks is under way. Staff from the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce and KATE Radio along with volunteers will be on the corner of Broadway Avenue and Main Street starting at 6 a.m. Friday.

The chamber estimates $16,000 is needed to support the Independence Day fireworks display, which annually is fired from City Beach. People gather around the shore of Fountain Lake and even in boats on the water to watch the fireworks.
