Here are highlights in history for June 1, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1993 — The first presentation of the summer season for the Minnesota Festival Theatre would be a new version of the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella.”

1983 — Six members of the area’s clergy wrote letters to the editor to support the $600,000 capital fund drive for the Albert Lea Family Y.

1963 — About 430 yearling northern pike were placed in Fountain Lake near Shoreland Beach by the State Game and Fish Department.
