The period to file for anyone wanting a seat on area school boards is from Aug. 3 to Aug. 17. The general election is Nov. 2 and terms will start Jan. 3. None of the area schools have a primary election.
For the Albert Lea school board, Sally Ehrhardt, Jill Marin and Jolinda Schreiber’s seats are up for re-election. Schreiber has decided not to file for re-election.
“I have really enjoyed the eight years I have served as school board member,” Schreiber said. “It’s been a rewarding and great experience.”
Schreiber said she ran for school board when her children were in high school as a way to stay involved and hopes other parents and community members consider running for a seat.
Those interested can file at the district office at Brookside Education Center on Richway Drive. It costs $2 to file.
