As part of a goal to expose freshmen to positive happenings at Albert Lea High School, the Link Crew of Albert Lea High School is hosting “Dinner and Theater Night” beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Link Crew, which is part of the Boomerang Project, is in its second year of existence at ALHS, with the goal of helping freshmen become acclimated to the high school environment. As it reads on the Web site, www.boomerangproject.com, “Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Link Crew trains members of the junior and senior classes to be Link Leaders. As positive role models, Link Leaders are motivators, leaders and teachers who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school and help facilitate freshman success.”

This Friday’s event includes a meal catered by Hy-Vee at the high school cafeteria, which will begin about 6:30 p.m. Freshmen will sit and mingle with Link Leaders, junior and senior mentors chosen for their leadership qualities and assigned to groups of freshmen at the beginning of the year. Following dinner, Link Leaders and freshmen will proceed to the auditorium to enjoy the ALHS spring play, “The Nerd.”
