Here are highlights in history for June 2, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1984 — Albert Lea merchants were hanging windsocks along Broadway Avenue to promote the Minnesota Festival Theatre’s summer presentations at the Albert Lea Civic Theatre.
1974 — James Miles, independent candidate for Minnesota governor, stopped in Albert Lea during his walk from Lyle to International Falls during the summer months.
1954 — Mrs. Melford Knudson retired as the leader of the children’s choir at First Lutheran Church. She had started this group 11 years earlier.
