A story today in the New York Times about the recount fight over the Minnesota Senate seat mentions an Albert Lea Tribune editorial from April 7. The recount fight is between Republican Norm Coleman, who had held the seat for one term, and Democratic challenger Al Franken. For five months, Minnesota has been without a second senator, as rulings and appeals keep certification of a winner from taking place.
The New York Times article reads: “It is embarrassing to many Minnesotans who fear the drawn out vote count is turning this proud and proper state into, as an editorial in The Albert Lea Tribune put it last week, a laughing stock.”
