The Albert Lea Tigers boys’ track and field team advanced three athletes Thursday to the Section 1AA finals at Lakeville South High School.
Tommy Tiegs placed fourth and fifth in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, respectively, and Bryce DeBoer made the finals with a 43-foot-5-inch throw in the shot put.
Brody Sunblad finished first in the 300-meter hurdles after posting a personal-best finish of 41.39 seconds. Sunblad will have the top seed in Saturday’s finals.
Derik DeVries had a personal best shot put throw of 43 feet, 5 inches, and Sean Laurie narrowly missed the finals in the 300-meter hurdles.
“The strong wind gusts throughout the day, most athletes did not post their best times of the season,” Tigers coach Kevin Gentz said.
