Gary Enderson

Gary A. Enderson passed away on March 9, 2023, at his home, in Dodge Center, Minnesota. Gary’s family will greet friends and relatives prior to his Memorial Service, which will be held at 10:00 o’clock on Saturday, April 22, 2023, in the Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home at Albert Lea, Minnesota. Burial will take place at Freeborn Cemetery. Pastor Don Malinsky will officiate.
Gary was born on April 29,1955 in Naeve Hospital at Albert Lea. He was the first grandchild born to his maternal grandparents LaVern and Lois Dillavou. Growing up on a farm west of Manly, he enjoyed riding his horse Rusty with his neighborhood friend, David Schulte.
Graduating from North Central of Manly in1973, he enlisted in the US Army. While serving in the military he received a X-Ray Specialist diploma and spent one year in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1976.
After his service, he pursued many educational paths. He received a B.A. in History from Winona State University, an Associate Degree in Community Science of Nursing from Rochester Community College and a Mortuary of Science Diploma from the Commonwealth College located at Houston,Texas. He was employed as a licensed mortician and funeral director in Guthrie Center, Iowa. Returning to Minnesota, he earned his RN degree from St. Mary’s School of Practical Nursing in Rochester. He worked in several skilled nursing facilities around the Dodge Center area, until his retirement in 2019.
Gary was a very private, independent and caring individual, who enjoyed living on his acreage with his dog, Dirty. He was an avid gardener who always shared his garden produce with friends and family.
Gary will be missed deeply by his parents, Ernest and Romelle Enderson and his siblings Connie (Jim) Hamilton, Tim (Jerri) Enderson, Patti (Jim) Beatty and William (Ronda) Enderson. As well as his special aunt and uncle, Pat and Earl Dillavou. His extended family includes numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Gary is preceded in death by his grandparents LaVern and Lois Dillavou, Oscar and Jennie Enderson, his aunts Sandra Roisen, Geraldine Kingstrom and Harriet Thompson, his uncles Elvin and Wayne Enderson and his cousin John Kingstrom.
Memorials will be given to the American Legions in both Manly and Dodge Center.
