Women display ‘labors of love’

Each year in March the congregation of Calvary Baptist Church sees the fruits of the American Baptist Women’s “labor of love” dedicated to Christ’s service. Fourteen women are active in this outreach. Some of these items are being sent to the Brown Indian Baptist Church in Walters, Okla.; soup labels, to Bacone College in Muskogee, Okla.; roller bandages and baby gowns are sent to the Congo. The ladies have also put together “Gifts of the Heart” kits, which include three different types: baby layettes, school kits and health kits. They will be shipped to the Church World Services, where they are distributed to various places around the world. Some local organizations benefit also. The Salvation Army was the recipient of six quilts. Rachel’s Hope, a pregnancy crisis center in Austin, was provided with several baby items and quilts. And graduates are always given a special quilt for graduation. Here group members stand with their work in front of the sanctuary.
