Here are highlights in history for June 5, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1986 — Spanky’s Tavern would be sponsoring the second annual street dance in Hollandale the following Friday and Saturday nights. Music would be by Crosswinds.

1976 — The National Lamb and Wool Show was held at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds.

1956 — Dr. Joseph Simonson, U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, was the graduation speaker for the 304 seniors at Albert Lea High School.
