It’s spring break this week. It sure feels like spring, with the rain and warm air, and after the winter this region had, we sure needed a break.

Children are out of school, and it seems half the families have taken vacation to spend quality time with their loved ones.

The other half are plugging away at work, holding down the fort.

Most everyone is simply happy to have made it through winter. You don’t need a vacation to enjoy spring break.

If you are one of the hearty souls of southern Minnesota or northern Iowa who didn’t need to go south for a few months, if you are one of the tough, strong people who stuck it out all winter, not even getting a teeny, tiny vacation to the tropics, then pat yourself on the back.

You are a true Midwesterner — and probably a bit blue, too.
