With the holiday season underway, the city is promoting the Fountain Lake Bookstore as a great place to find affordable gifts for readers of all ages.
Hardcover books are $2, paperbacks $1 and children’s books are just 50 cents, making it a fantastic option for gifts on a budget.
The bookstore is a project of the Friends of the Albert Lea Public Library, a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds for library programs.
With new arrivals added weekly, there’s always something to discover. Whether seeking a beloved classic, a heart-pounding thriller or a charming children’s story, shoppers are sure to find something.
“Our bookstore is a great place to find something for everyone on your holiday list,” said Cindy Gandrud, president of the Friends of the Library. “We have a wide selection of books at great prices and all proceeds from sales support the library.”
In fact, the bookstore raised more than $10,000 for library programs this year.
The Fountain Lake Bookstore is on the lower level of City Hall, 211 E. Clark St. The bookstore, staffed by volunteers, is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A payment box is also available for after-hours shopping.
