In the final Top of Iowa Conference dual quad of the season, Lake Mills traveled to Eagle Grove for three duals.

Host Eagle Grove was the first opponent and was no match for the Bulldogs, who cruised to a 57-15 victory.

In the dual, senior Garrett Ham picked up his 100th career victory.

The win set up a battle for first place in the TIC dual standings with first-ranked (class 2A) Osage. Lake Mills is currently ranked fourth in class 1A, and both teams came into the dual 12-0 records in the conference.

The dual lived up to its billing with many great matches, but Osage prevailed by a score of 39-29.

“We wrestled well against Osage and gave ourselves a chance to win,” said coach Alex Brandenburg. “If we had been able to pull out a couple more of the close matches, we could have knocked off a #1 team.”

The Bulldogs wrapped up the evening by dismantling Rockford, 78-0.

“I was proud of the way the kids competed tonight,” Brandenburg said. “Although there are always things that need to be worked on, we are getting better overall as the second half of the season progresses.”

Lucas Oldenkamp, Hayden Helgeson, Landon Price, Beau Kaufman, Andrew Grunhovd, and Wyatt Hanna all finished 3-0 on the night. Lake Mills is not 21-4 on the season.
