Freeborn County and all of the surrounding counties are in a winter weather advisory ahead of the storm that is expected to move into the area Saturday night and continue over the next few days.
According to the National Weather Service, Albert Lea is expected to receive 3 to 5 inches of snow, through Monday evening, with higher snow totals further north. The Twin Cities could receive as much as 11 inches of snow, while areas like St. Cloud receiving up to 15 inches.
The Weather Service states snow is expected to begin overnight Saturday and continue until late afternoon Sunday, before transitioning into a wintry mix and then rain overnight on Sunday in the area.
A rain/snow mix will be possible late Sunday across southern and eastern Minnesota through Monday. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s starting late Sunday evening before increasing into the 40s for most of the day on Monday and potentially reaching 50 late Monday afternoon before dropping into the 20s on Tuesday morning.
With that forecast, new precipitation the area receives on Monday will be in the form of rain.
