Albert Lea boys’ tennis played their last regular season match Thursday night at Rochester John Marshall.
Freshman captain Kuol Dual at 2 singles had the match of the season playing for three hours.
He lost the first set 4- 6, but came back hard in the second set, and won 6-3. His match ended with a third set, that went to a tiebreaker, which he lost in the nailbiter 4-7.
Gunnar Hardison at 3 singles also played his heart out, continually adjusting and making some terrific shots. He lost 3-6, 3-6.
Levi Monson at 4 singles had a stellar night, winning his match 6- 3 and 6-2. He had the best match of his career, playing with confidence and determination.
Aiden Fickett and Abe Isaacson at 1 doubles played two intense sets. Both went to tiebreakers. Though they lost both in the tiebreakers, they played like they owned the court.
Chase Schmidt and Axel Erickson at 2 doubles had a terrific night with some excellent rallies and some ridiculous smashes.
Connor Hanson at 5 singles did a great job and won 8-1.
“It’s been a phenomenal season so far and we are excited to head to Rochester on Saturday for Big 9,” said coach Therese Netzer. “Our goal is to play exactly like we did today.”
