District 23B Rep. Patricia Mueller, R-Austin, joined fellow legislators District 23 Sen. Gene Dornink, R-Brownsdale, and District 19 Sen. John R. Jasinski, R-Faribault, at Riverland Community College for a program along with Q & A for the announcement of the new Water Operator and Wastewater Operator training programs that will be coming to Riverland Community College. During the program, these legislators were presented with regional legislator of the year awards to commemorate their work on this important project. The award is presented by the Southeastern Minnesota League of Municipalities, (SEMLM) which works with cities and townships to collaborate on initiatives that benefit the entire region.
“I’m so glad we were able to work together to get these programs started right here at Riverland,” Mueller said. “We’ve heard from numerous Minnesotans throughout the process how needed these training programs have become. It is critical that we support educational opportunities that are innovative and think outside the box to meet the needs of our community.”
“Building up a strong workforce in southern Minnesota will be a huge asset going into the future and these training programs will be a huge part of doing just that. This team of stakeholders has come together to build for the future and I’m looking forward to the work we will continue to do supporting the growing workforce needs.”
