EN(dur)ANCE by Robin Gudal
I spent this past week at Wilderness Prayer Center, both as the area director (cleaning up our flooded basement with help from amazing volunteers, cooking, hosting\serving and working) and for rest.
I am not good at “pause” times and yet I — dare I say we — need it!
One day there was a prayer meeting with individuals from Iowa, Wisconsin, South Dakota and communities within 100 miles of Wells. As I was hosting, thus in and out, I observed people who were genuinely “bringing it all to Jesus” in prayer, through the speakers, music and in the quiet.
The next day I had a prayer initiative for the YFC middle school youth at Prairie River Camp.
Thus, I wrote all the staff and youths’ names on a sticky note for those who came to pray.
Out of the blue came this question: “Robin what’s your posture?” Not physically but in your heart?
I felt convicted as my mind had regressed to the to-do list. I saw these 80-plus names on the sticky note. On the sheet I noticed the white space above, under and on both sides of the single name. I knew a few of the stories behind the names and my heart broke for them.
Simply, an “aha moment.” We all have more than just our name and how others see us. We have so much more, and Jesus knows all that.
What’s your posture? Whose name can you put on that sticky note? Are you praying for them?
