The Freeborn County Highway Department has contracted with Jensen Excavating and Trucking to replace a large box culvert located on County Road 26 in Hayward.  The road is planned to close on Thursday and will remain closed through Sept. 27.  Weather and other factors will determine the total duration of the closure and the timeline is subject to change.

Downtown Hayward, The Calico Hutch, Lou-Rich and the Hayward Coop will all be accessible from the south.

The project involves the complete removal and replacement of the existing structure, temporary gravel surfacing and restoration of the slopes. Traffic is asked to follow the signed detour route that uses County Road 46, County Road 30 and County Road 19. Every effort will be made to expedite the completion of the project and reopen the roadway as soon as possible.
