I am writing about rumors that have been spreading around town. Recently, there has been talk about a switch to a four-day school week for some school areas. I am very opposed to this. Sure, it might be nice, at first, to have an extra day off of school. But a 10-hour school day? The kids would be so exhausted by the end of the day. That’s where that extra day comes in, right?

I just think it’s an absolutely crazy idea that won’t last. And what do you think kids are going to do with an extra day off? Probably get into more trouble. The public is always talking about how we need to get rid of underage drinking and partying; do you think this will help? Not likely. Budget cuts should not include a cut of a day from the week.
