Recap: The Albert Lea Tigers picked a great night to pull out their first win of the season, pulling off to the 27-19 victory in front of a raucous homecoming crowd.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Tigers finished with quarters of seven, six and 14 points to outlast Tri-City.

Junior Teaghen Tolbers was 10/18 for 79 yards and a touchdown throwing the ball. His touchdown pass was caught by junior Layton Yost, who caught one other ball for a total of 27 yards.

Carter Conn and Tolbers each rushed in a touchdown. Conn’s lone carry was a 72 yard touchdown and Tolbers ran the ball a total of 13 times for 49 yards.

Breckyn Wacholz capped off the scoring with a 2-yard interception returned for a touchdown.

The Tigers will play in their second consecutive home game Friday night when they host the 1-4 Trojans of Worthington.

NRHEG

Recap: The Panthers made it three-straight victories Friday night with a dominant win over Medford, 43-8.

Quarterback Alden Dobberstein led the team with one passing touchdown and one rushing. Dobberstein completed four passes for 90 yards and ran for 38 yards in the victory, while Harbor Cromwell also contributed two touchdowns, both of his coming on the ground as he rushed for 51 yards on seven carries.

Owen Bartlett was the one who caught Dobberstein’s touchdown pass, his only catch of the went for 20 yards and the score. Ryan Schlaak also added to the touchdown total with a 59-yard run of his own.

NRHEG faces a true test Friday night in their attempt to make it four wins in a row when they travel to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown to take on the 4-1 Bucs.

United South Central

Overall record: 2-3

Most recent result: loss at home to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, 34-6

Recap: The Bucs proved to be a tough opponent for the Rebels last Friday as United South Central fell 34-6 in their attempt to get above .500 for the first time since week one of the season.

While there were no stats available from last week’s game, the Rebels are hoping to have a bounce back game this week as they play another road game, taking on the 1-4 Bulldogs out of Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton.

Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons

Overall record: 1-4

Most recent result: Loss on the road against Houston, 40-28

Up next: At home against Mabel-Canton (3-2) Friday night

Recap: There were no individual stats available from the Knights game against Houston last Friday night which saw them drop their third-consecutive game, 40-28.

There was no shortage of scoring throughout the game as the Knights recorded their highest point total of the season so far, but unfortunately for the Knights it was not enough to overcome the Hurricanes.

Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons looks to get right with just three games remaining in the season as they host Mabel-Canton Friday night in the final game to be played in Alden this season.

Northwood-Kensett

Overall record: 1-4

Most recent result: Win on the road over North Iowa, 33-20

Up next: On the road against Rockford (0-5) Friday night

Recap: The Vikings went to North Iowa last Friday night and played the role of spoiler as they downed the Bison on their homecoming night in a 33-20 contest.

Northwood-Kensett attacked mostly through the ground game as they rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns. Junior Alex Tidemann was the leader in the rushing game, totaling 169 yards and three touchdowns himself. The other rushing touchdown was scored by sophomore Landen Nelson.

The Vikings have a prime opportunity to make it back-to-back wins Friday night when they travel to take on the winless Warriors of Rockford.

Lake Mills

Overall record: 3-2

Most recent result: Win at home over North Union, 34-14

Up next: On the road against Belmond-Klemme (1-4) Friday night

Recap: The Bulldogs came away with a big homecoming win Friday night, taking down the Warriors 34-14.

Despite going down early in the first quarter, the Bulldogs rallied with four straight touchdowns to come away with a decisive victory. Lake Mills also did most of their work on the ground rushing for well over 200 yards. Nash Delger led in yards with 133 and one touchdown, while Landon Price carried for 31 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Hayden Helgeson also through for one score, which was caught by Delger.

The Bulldogs climb to a record above .500 for the first time since winning their opening game of the season. They have a good opportunity to to continue their streak as they travel to take on the 1-4 Broncos of Belmond-Klemme this Friday night.
