Because of current weather conditions and available fuels and difficulties with controlling fires if one would break out, the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office is restricting burning permits.

There will be no open burning (no permits issued), but the departments will allow campfires for the remainder of today.

Sheriff Ryan Shea said the conditions for Thursday and Friday appear more moderate and he anticipated they will allow permitted burning beginning tomorrow morning.

People should always call Dispatch at 507-377-5200 Option 5,  before burning.
