A Hayward man is facing charges after he was found with cocaine and a large amount of marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop in Freeborn County Thursday morning.
Dean Allen Thordor, 50, of Hayward is facing charges of second-degree possession of 25 grams or more of cocaine and first-degree cannabis possession tied to the traffic stop.
Court documents state early Thursday morning a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputy and Minnesota state trooper responded to a report from the South-Central Drug Investigation Unit of a vehicle returning from Colorado containing drugs obtained by Thordor.
The trooper conducted the traffic stop on the vehicle at Freeborn County Road 13 and Interstate 35, in which Thordor was identified as the passenger in the vehicle.
A K-9 officer alerted near the rear portion of the driver side seat and the front portion of the truck bed.
After obtaining a search warrant, authorities found a bag in the truck bed containing 21 bags with approximately 10 kilograms — or 22 pounds — of marijuana, along with a bag of 34.2 grams of cocaine.
Freeborn County District Court Judge Christy Hormann set Thordor’s conditional bail at $100,000. He will not be allowed to leave the state without written court approval and must not use or possess alcohol or drugs, among other conditions. Unconditional bail was set at $200,000.
