Sewing day went really well

A huge thanks to everyone who made the second Community Sew Day a great success. We met on April 16 at the Senior Center in the Skyline Plaza and sewed for seven hours straight. Approximately 30 gals showed up throughout the day, and we sewed quilts to be given out in Freeborn County, dresses for an orphanage in Jamaica and bags and aprons to be sent to an orphanage in Bogota, Colombia. What a fun time to get together and visit, sew, eat, make new friends and share ideas with each other!
Thanks again to the Calico Hutch in Hayward and to A-Best Sew & Vac in Albert Lea for their contributions and support for this event. Thanks also to the Shinefest organization that has taken the Community Sew Day group under its wing and supported this mission wholeheartedly.
We will be meeting to sew again on Aug. 13, 2011, at the Senior Center at the Skyline Plaza 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your own sewing machine if possible as well as scissors and pins. Kits for the projects will be provided. Anyone wanting to make a donation of money toward this event or if you have any questions, please call 507-383-8977 and talk to Sue.
Thanks to everyone who came and sewed. Your gift of time and enthusiasm toward this mission is greatly appreciated.
Blessings from the Community Sew Day committee: Pat Draayer, Kathy Quinn, Karen Nelson, Loretta Schewe, Sue Westrum.
