With the month of October being dedicated by the Catholic Church as the Month of the Holy Rosary and Oct. 7 being designated as the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, the students of St. Casimir’s Catholic School in Wells recently invited the local communities to join them in praying the Living Rosary.
What is a Living Rosary? Under the direction of former SCCS long-time teacher Lea Nowak, the students physically represented the beads of the rosary and led the age-old prayers, with the older students assisting the younger ones. The Joyful Mystery decades were prayed with the older students providing a short, age-appropriate explanation of what each decade represented.
For instance, for the first Joyful Mystery of The Annunciation, the leader shared, “Mary is a young girl living in Nazareth. She lives with her mom and dad. Gabriel is an angel that comes with a message from God. Mary hears the news that God wants her to be the mother of his son. Mary says ‘yes.’”
Thanks go to the students for providing this special devotional opportunity, to Nowak for her leadership and to those who prayed along with the students. Remembering Jesus’ words in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”
All came away especially blessed for having spent this time together in prayer.
