Susan Cornwell, 69, of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully at her home on November 2, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Born on September 28, 1955, in Albert Lea, Susan was a daughter of the late Stanley and Abby (Hiler) Rhiger, and was a dedicated accountant throughout her career, known for her meticulous attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
With a zest for life and a passion for travel, Susan adored exploring the world, often embarking on exciting adventures with her sisters. Whether cruising the open seas or enjoying camping trips, she cherished the moments spent discovering new places and creating lasting memories.
Susan was known for her cool, calm, and collected demeanor, which complemented her warm and loving nature. As a devoted mother to her children, Brian and Laura, Susan’s family was at the center of her world. A proud grandmother, she delighted in spending time with her family and sharing her love with those closest to her.
In her younger years, Susan was a social butterfly, always eager to connect with others. She had a love for excitement, often found riding her Harley and enjoying the thrill of the open road. With a generous spirit and a welcoming presence, she was a true foodie who never missed the chance to savor a delicious meal, often exclaiming “nummy num” before tucking into her favorite dishes.
Those left to cherish Susan’s memory include her children, Brian Baldwin and Laura (Ben) Cornwell; grandchildren, Abbigail, Jaxon, and Blair; siblings, Joanne (Lisa) Rhiger, Jeannette (Bob) Flatness, Chuck (Liz) Rhiger, and Joel (Dawn) Rhiger; numerous nieces and nephews; and several cousins and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Stanley and Abby Rhiger, Susan was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Rhiger.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at a later date.
