I am so disappointed that our country’s (and our county’s) majority vote would go to the candidate who spewed so much hate and fear (among other things). But I’m only going to concentrate on the hate and fear at this moment.

Our country voted in a man who cares nothing for immigrants fleeing a dangerous life in another country. He preached only fear of them, stating they were mostly criminals. That was not true.

He caused hate towards trans individuals by saying our children could have gender-affirming procedures without our knowledge. Not true. And because of these lies told over and over and over, people started to believe them. His constant voice in our ear using hateful rhetoric and lies influenced voters to give him their vote.

From his lies, he has caused people to hate and fear trans individuals and immigrants (legal and illegal). This unfounded fear will destroy us if we do not fight back and resist the fear. We instead need to have love and compassion for those different from us. Trump will never model that behavior for our country and is certainly no good example for our children.

If our vote is only for us and our needs, and not the needs of others, then how can we call ourselves a Christian nation?
