Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

EN(dur)ANCE by Robin Gudal

I had a hard time falling asleep. I tossed and turned. I thought and prayed. I listened to the words on the radio playing in the background. I tried to settle myself.

Through the night, I saw the alarm about every hour and a half. Too soon my internal alarm woke me around 6 a.m.

Being in youth ministry and having had a handful of kids around, I was a late-nighter.

I probably had only seen a sunrise a handful of times, and now it is a daily and amazing part of my routine. That and coffee.

Wow, I’ve missed so many things sleeping in all these years!

I had prayed for someone the day prior who was struggling with being anxious about a situation in their life. Greggy, my love and rock, left for a conference out of state for a few days, and thus, I felt a bit unsettled.

In addition, I am hosting 18 guests at my other job, WPC, and preparing four meals. My mind kept wandering to “details” that needed to be done.

I will confess that I also found myself a bit anxious.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6-7, NKJV

Awaking at a bit after six, I started my day as usual. I looked out the window and watched as the sun came up. I got my coffee, read a devotion and sat, pondering, as I listened to the radio.

Jesus is so good to me. Here’s the love letter he sent me this morning:

“You’re gonna be okay. Oh, the sun will keep on risin’ in that old familiar way, and every little thing is gonna be okay. You’re gonna be alright. Darlin,’ you’re gonna be alright. Lift your eyes to the hills. Remember where your help comes from. Not a care in this whole world can take that truth away… You’re gonna be okay.” — “Be OK” by Lauren Daigle

“Darlin’ you’re gonna be alright.” What a promise! Thank you, Jesus!
