In Loving Memory of Sharlyn Rae Nimz

Sharlyn Rae Nimz

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sharlyn Rae Nimz at 7:05pm on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024, at the age of 71. Sharlyn left this world peacefully under hospice care at Palms Garden in Gainesville, Florida.

Sharlyn was born on February 27, 1953, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Merlyn and Marilyn (Burtness) Becker. She graduated from Glenville High School and married Raymond L. Nimz on November 19, 1980, in Albert Lea. Together, they built a life filled with love and family until his passing in 2002.

Sharlyn lived most of her life in Albert Lea and Glenville, Minnesota, and later moved to Gainesville, Florida, in 2018. She worked at Happy Chef in Mankato, MN, during her early years, and after marrying Raymond, she devoted herself to raising her children. As her family grew, she worked for the Freeborn County Shopper and later embraced an adventurous spirit by touring with a carnival across South Dakota, Texas, Iowa, and Nebraska.

Sharlyn was known for her warm heart and vibrant personality. She loved knitting, watching movies, and connecting with family and friends. Her frequent phone calls, ending with her signature phrase, “Take care, God bless, love you,” brought comfort to everyone who knew her-a tradition she carried on after her mother’s passing in 2018.

This coming summer, Sharlyn will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea, MN.

Sharlyn was survived by her three children, Brian Becker (Tina) of Northwood, Iowa, Philip Nimz of Green Bay, WI; and Jane Nimz of Gainesville, FL.

Her brother: Brant Becker (Wanda).

Her sister-in-law: Ardis Nimz.

Her cherished grandchildren: Chelsea Thiede, Willow Becker, Dylon Cunningham, CJ Jensen, and Isaiah Ningen.

Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will remember her with love.

She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Raymond L. Nimz; her parents, Merlyn and Marilyn Becker; her sister, Lugene Becker; and many beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, and uncles and other extended family.

Sharlyn touched countless lives with her kindness, humor, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
