From 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 12, downtown Albert Lea will come alive with creativity as approximately 30 homeschooled students host a Kids Maker’s Market during the Holiday Bazaar. The event will take place at two venues, The Outlet and All the Things, showcasing a wide array of handmade creations crafted by students ranging from kindergarten through 8th grade.
Shoppers can expect a delightful variety of items, including:
- Sourdough bread and home-baked goods
- Crafts and jewelry
- Slime and bath bombs
- Paintings and ornaments
- Piggy banks and more
These young entrepreneurs have poured their creativity and hard work into their projects and are eager to share their talents with the community.
The students are part of the Venture Upward program, which supports home-educated learners through an online curriculum, teacher guidance, funding for educational supplies, field trips and a weekly co-op. The Albert Lea group meets on Wednesdays for fun and engaging classes under the leadership of Kelley McGinnis, the program’s local manager.
Support young makers and find unique, handmade gifts just in time for the holidays.
