The Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC) will open applications for Individual Artist Grants on Dec. 28, with submissions due by Jan. 28.
In a significant change to the application process, SEMAC has eliminated the Letter of Intent requirement based on feedback from its recent Needs Assessment Survey.
These competitive grants support artists in creating new work in dance, literary arts, music, theater and visual arts, as well as interdisciplinary projects. Artists must reside in the SEMAC region and culminate their work in a public capstone event through publication, performance or exhibition at an accessible venue provided by a nonprofit or other approved organization.
Two funding levels are available: Emerging Artist Grants of $3,000 and Advancing Artist Grants of$5,000.
No matching funds are required for these grants. However, artists should note that grant awards are considered taxable income.
Artists interested in applying can access the full application starting Dec. 28 through the SEMAC website, semac.org. Staff support is available throughout the application process.
