A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea on Saturday, December 21 at 11:00 AM with a visitation starting one hour prior. Following the memorial service, Harvey and his wife Donna will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea.
Harvey was born on April 24, 1929 to Leonard and Minnie “Oyer” Brua in Silver Lake, Iowa. He was just a boy when the family moved to Albert Lea. After high school, Harvey joined the United States Air Force.
On August 12, 1956, Harvey married the love of his life, Donna Mae Haugland. Together they raised their three children in Albert Lea. Harvey made a name for himself as a Mason for over 40 years, and likely had a hand in some form of brickwork at most of the churches in Albert Lea.
Later in life, Harvey worked for Star Granite. He enjoyed making things out of granite in his spare time, such as clocks and book ends, and found relaxation in wood turning bowls as well.
Harvey was a lifetime member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers, and a member of the Albert Lea Elks Club.
Harvey enjoyed bowling, golfing and also spending time at the family cabin on French Lake fishing with his children and grandchildren.
Harvey and Donna also enjoyed wintering at their home in Mission, Texas.
