Man sentenced to 10 years of probation, stayed prison term for criminal sexual conduct

A 41-year-old Albert Lea man was sentenced to 10 years of supervised probation and a stayed four-year prison term for criminal sexual conduct with a child.

Ler Wah Guide pleaded guilty in August to one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct of a person in a significant relationship with a victim under 16. He initially faced a second count of the same charge and one count of solicitation, inducement, promotion or prostitution.

Court documents state Guide reportedly inappropriately touched a then 14-year-old girl and then later began soliciting her for sex and sending inappropriate messages on the phone. He was also accused of inappropriately touching a younger boy.

Guide was known to the children.

As part of the sentence, Judge Christy Hormann issued a series of conditions, including having no contact with the victim, no contact with any person under 18 unless approved by his agent or therapist and no access to or use of the internet without approval.

He must also comply with the recommendations of a psychological-sexual evaluation and have no contact with vulnerable adults unless approved by a probation agent, among other conditions.

He received credit for 266 days served in the Freeborn County jail since his arrest.
