The state pairings for the Class 3A tournament came out Sunday and the Tigers have some very tough matchups right out of the gate when the class 3A tournament begins Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center at 4 p.m.

Matt Tiegs (30-4), ranked No. 5 at 160, will face No. 1-ranked Tyler Lehmann, of Apple Valley in his first round match at 171. Lehmann is 42-0 on the season at 171.

Logan Kortan (19-2), No. 4 in the state at 152 is matched up with Zak Coates (37-4), the No. 2 wrestler in state at 160 from Henry Sibley, in his first round match at 160.

Cody Hansen (37-4) will face Matt Sanocki (31-4), of Roseville, in the first round at 125. Hansen is No. 3 in the state at 125 and Sanocki No. 7.

Carter Kortan (20-14) faces Hastings’ Zach Rohr (33-9), ranked No. 3 in the state, in the first round at 135.

Adam Kermes (22-12) will face Hastings’ Tyler Rohr (33-9), ranked No. 6 in state, at 145 in the first round.

Trey Hable (28-10) will face Zach Gawboy, of Maple Grove (25-8) in the first round of the Class 3A state tournament at 103.

Cory Hansen (38-4) will face Weston Droegemueller (27-14), of Wayzata, at 112 in the first round.

At 119, Dalton Westerlund (33-7) will face Tartan’s Michael Buhl (25-13) in the first round.

Trevor Rasmussen (31-7), ranked No. 8 in state, will go against Wayzata’s Ben Dunlay (32-4) in the first round at 130.

Ethan Reed (32-4) will face St. Francis’ Cody Raze (26-11) in the first round at 215.

While the first round matches are tough, some may get a second chance through wrestlebacks if they fall in the first round. If a wrestler loses to an opponent that wins his next two matches, the losing wrestler is placed in wrestleback brackets and has a chance to place at state.
