Glenville-Emmons deserves praise

I would like to congratulate Glenville-Emmons Schools on the recent announcement of receiving a $40,000 Extreme Cafeteria Makeover grant. This grant was achieved through a combined effort of our school administration, staff and community. This is a great opportunity for our school district to update our food service facilities without adding any additional tax burden onto our taxpayers.
The Glenville-Emmons School District has kept their buildings well-maintained for many years without having any bond payments. Making wise decisions has allowed the taxpayers to go 15-20 years without having to make any building payment at all. The Glenville and Emmons communities can be very proud of the many high school graduates that have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, accountants, educators, private business owners and the many skilled professions.
I think this proves that new buildings and higher taxes do not necessarily produce finer quality students. I do know we will need to continue to accept budget cuts, and that future referendums are inevitable, but for the time being, Superintendent Mark Roubinek is leading us well. Our new superintendent is a self-motivated, fiscally responsible man, and a real asset to our school district and our two communities. It is very reassuring to have our present school board, and an administrator like Mr. Roubinek, managing our tax dollars.
