Here are highlights in history for June 13, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1987 — The temperature indictor on the sign at Norwest Bank at the corner of Newton Avenue and West Main Street went from 104 to 105 degrees above zero at 5:41 p.m.
1977 — A Tribune article said jumping ropes were the newest craze for keeping fit. They were being suggested as alternatives to jogging, sports or calisthenics.
1937 — Johnson Laundry in Albert Lea advertised it would do “pasteurized” washing. The rate was 50 cents for 10 pounds of clothing separated by color.
