The Albert Lea wrestling team made quick work of Mankato East and Rochester Century in a triangular Thursday at Albert Lea High School.

The Tigers (23-7) rolled to their 10th and 11th consecutive victories and now have won 16 of their last 17 duals.

“We had a good couple of matches tonight, the kids wrestled well,” said Albert Lea head coach Larry Goodnature.

Against Mankato East in each win that wasn’t a forfeit the Tiger picked up bonus points.

The same was nearly true against Century, but the Tigers had one decision win.

Trevor Rasmussen, Trey Hable, and Ethan Reed all had two victories by fall. Cody Hansen had a pair of technical fall victories, as well.

With the pair of wins, Albert Lea can do shift its focus to Saturday and the big dual with Owatonna. Both teams are undefeated and the winner Saturday will likely be the Big Nine Conference champion.

“The kids know what’s on the line,” Goodnature said. “They get themselves fired up and they’ve always wrestled tough against Owatonna for the Big Nine Championship and I don’t expect anything different Saturday night.”
