ShelterBox is a 501(c)(3) global disaster relief non-profit charity that responds to disasters around the world by providing a self-contained survival kit named a ShelterBox. The ShelterBox typically contains a 10-person tent, water purification system, mosquito nets, blankets and sleeping mats, cook-stove, cooking and eating utensils, tool kit, and children’s activity kit. Boxes are packed disaster-specific; each provided for 10 people for a minimum of 6 months. Since 2001, ShelterBox has helped over 700,000 displaced people. During 2008 alone, ShelterBox USA deployed 10,482 boxes and helped over 100,000 people affected by various disasters. For more information on ShelterBox, go towww.shelterboxusa.org.
