A flood watch remains in effect for several south central Minnesota counties through Wednesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms overnight caused rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches over much of the area.
More showers and thunderstorms are likely later today and tonight, which could cause an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain. The additional rainfall amounts may lead to flooding.
The storms are being caused as a moist air mass moves into the region ahead of a strong low pressure approaching from the Central Plains.
The flood watch includes Freeborn County and several surrounding counties such as Faribault, Steele, Waseca and Blue Earth counties.
The area is also under a hazardous weather outlook.
