Ardys Modderman, 84, Albert Lea

A celebration of the life of Ardys M. (Holtz) Modderman, 84, of Albert Lea, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. Mark Miller will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before service at the church.
Ardys passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Ardys was born on May 31, 1927, in Albert Lea to Harry and Rose (Hollund) Holtz. She attended Albert Lea High School. Ardys worked various places including Alma’s Beauty Shop and Hotel Albert before retiring from Wilson’s in 1978. She married the love of her life, Harry Modderman, on Aug. 28, 1965, at the Little Brown Church in Iowa.
Ardys was a hard worker and enjoyed life. She loved playing cards, visiting with family and friends, planning parties and get togethers, dancing and writing letters and cards. She always had funny stories to write and tell.
To cherish her memory are her children: Rose Modderman of Albert Lea, Mary (Dale) Sorensen of Maiden, N.C., Jacki (Wayde) Stene of Albert Lea, Joni Modderman of LaCrescent, Martin Modderman of Albert Lea, Barb (Cullins) Roberts of Albert Lea, and M.C. “Don” (Sandy) Haines of Belle Plaine; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.
Ardys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Modderman; sister and brother-in-law, Ardell and Merle Wilhelm; brother and sister-in-law, Merrill and Ruth Holtz and one grandchild.
Now in her high heels she is dancing once again.
