What is Christmas?

It is humility —

God’s humility.

It is weakness —

God’s kind of weakness.

It is risk-taking —

As only God would.

It is beauty —

The beauty of the simple

And the ordinary.

It is glory —

The glory of a stable.

It is harmony —

Mary and Joseph in

Cooperation with God.

It is peace —

The peace of hearts in tune

With the Heart of the universe.

It is hope —

A Light in the darkness of

Human life.

It is joy —

Hearts overflowing with gratitude

At Divine plans and ways.

It is love —

Given — and received.

It is shamelessness —

The shamelessness of God —

At human birth,

At a stable birth,

At human family,

At human guilt and shame.

It is God-

Come to earth,

In human flesh,

Reaching out to us,

Creating faith within us,

Setting the stage for Good Friday

Saving us.
