Rochester Community and Technical College will be the host site for this year’s Tri-State Volleyball All-Star Games.
Teams from Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin will compete in the event, which started Saturday and will run through Sunday.
The Tri-State event features some of the most elite high school senior volleyball players.
Two area seniors will participate in the games.
Familiar names, Jordynn Brackey and Cassie Christianson of Lake Mills will be playing on Team Iowa.
“I feel honored to participate in this event and look forward to playing against teams from Minnesota and Wisconsin,” Brackey said of her being chosen for the All-Star Team.
Team Iowa’s head coach is Dennis South of Lewis Central High School.
“An event like this is a great emotional high for each athlete,” South said. “All are deserving of the respect they receive from this opportunity.”
South will have a strong lineup of future college players under him. Team Iowa consists of 10 senior girls from high schools from all over the state. Kuemper Catholic, Waukee, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Columbus Catholic, Central Springs, Hinton, Cherokee Washington, Cheyenne Newman, Iowa Valley, LeMars Community, Central Springs and Lake Mills High School.
The concept behind the games for our area players and the others is to not only honor these athletes for their accomplishments, but to give them a chance to play before college coaches and recruiters that have been invited from a six state region.
Each athlete will play in two matches including two games to 25 and in a third game to 15.
