“We had the run of the play for most of the game,” Albert Lea head coach Eli Romano said. “We’re getting better every game.”

Pirsig scored the team’s first goal 12 minutes into the match off Tyler Shaw’s assist, and Weigel added a goal just before half off Smed’s somersault throw-in.

“We were really happy to get a goal on a throw in,” Romano said.

Smed added a goal of his own 25 minutes into the second half, as he rebounded a shot into the Falcons’ net with his head.

The Tigers outshot Faribault 21-9 and have won two of their last three matches, as they travel to Rochester John Marshall Thursday.

“It’s really fun to see these guys progress,” Romano said. “We’re a soccer team from back to front.”
